About The Event
Ohio AFP Chapters are proud to present a deep dive into the results of Giving USA 2021. This online presentation will go beyond a simple recap of the numbers to help you understand what they mean to you and your organization’s fundraising success.
Melissa Brown will present the Giving USA findings and share her insights on the current environment, explore what past trends can—and cannot—tell us, and forecast what’s next for our sector.
Giving USA Report Details: First published in 1956, Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy is the longest-running, most comprehensive report on philanthropy in the United States. It is researched and written by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and released by The Giving Institute.

She was rated as one of the country’s top philanthropy speakers in 2016.
Melissa began work as a fundraiser in 1989. Since 2011, Melissa S. Brown & Associates has served clients throughout North America. Projects include instruction for The Fund Raising School, evaluation for Indiana Youth Institute, data analysis for National Philanthropic Trust, and project management for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. Melissa is co-founder and manager of the Nonprofit Research Collaborative, which surveys charities twice a year about fundraising.
She volunteers on the AFP Research Council and for the Association of Philanthropic Counsel. She holds degrees from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and the University of Pennsylvania. Melissa and her family live in California. She recently fulfilled a dream and saw two endangered species-whooping crane and Kirtland’s warbler-in one day in central Wisconsin.
